On behalf of all our colleagues at Angel, it is with great sadness we mourn the sudden loss of Dr Augustine Obaro who passed on New Years Day. Dr Obaro is the 15th GP in the UK who has died from Covid-19.
Augustine Obaro moved to the UK in 1999 after completing his medical degree at the University of Maiduguri in Nigeria. After completing his training as a General Practitioner in 2004, he became a GP for Waltham Forest, where he remained a much loved and respected member of the community.
We remember him as a kind and supportive individual, who showed great compassion for his patients, for his colleagues and for his tireless charity work improving access to medical facilities in some of the poorest parts of the world. Augustine Obaro remained to the end a kind, generous and deeply principled individual, whose loss will be felt by the many lives he enriched through his tireless efforts, warm humour and gentle, reassuring presence.
Our condolences to his family.
Look to this day: For it is life, the very life of life. In its brief course Lie all the verities and realities of your existence. The bliss of growth, The glory of action, The splendour of achievement Are but experiences of time. For yesterday is but a dream And tomorrow is only a vision; And today well-lived, makes Yesterday a dream of happiness And every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well therefore to this day; Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!
